FDNY: Area Secured following Woodlawn Heights Fire on Transformer Pole

An apparent, outdoor electrical fire broke out on Monday evening, Oct. 24, in the Woodlawn Heights section of The Bronx.

 

The FDNY said the incident has since been closed out and the cause is being investigated.

According to the FDNY, the incident was reported at 6:26 p.m. on Monday at 4213 Peters Place and originated on a transformer atop an electrical pole.

 

An FDNY spokesperson said the scene was secured, handed over to Con Edison and closed out at 8.01 p.m. on Monday evening. Asked if any injuries had been reported, the FDNY spokesperson said there were none.

According to one user of the CITIZENS’ app, QueensNewsNow, there still appeared to be electricity in nearby homes, even as the fire continued to burn on the pole.

 

Norwood News has contacted Con Edison for further details on the incident as well as a status update on whether there are any outages and will update this story should we receive more information.
