Suspect Arrested in Jerome Ave. Crash
A Morrisania man faces a litany of charges, including driving while intoxicated vehicular assault and reckless endangerment, related to the death of a Brooklyn woman who was near a bus stop when she was hit. Police say Francisco Rosario drove his Nissan minivan southbound on Jerome Avenue on Aug. 11 at around 10 p.m., mounted a sidewalk at the corner of Bainbridge Avenue and struck two people at the bus stop by the Woodlawn train station. One of them, Natasha Mar, was struck. She was later transported to St. Barnabas Hospital where she died. Rosario was also charged with assault, failure to take an breath test, and reckless driving.
Chokehold Robbery
The NYPD needs help identifying a man seen putting a 46-year-old victim in a chokehold and later robbing him. The incident happened in front of the Pay-O-Matic check cashing business at 3578 Jerome Ave. on July 24 just before 10:30 p.m., according to police. The victim had finished cashing a $200.00 check there when the perpetrator came from behind, placed him in a chokehold, took the money, and drove off in a vehicle. The suspect is described as Hispanic, in his 20s, and last seen wearing a white t-shirt.
Cell Phone Theft
The NYPD needs help identifying a man wanted for questioning in connection to a stolen cell phone that happened on board a 4 subway train heading downtown. Police say it happened on Aug. 5 after midnight on board the train. The victim, a 46-year-old woman, said a man simply snatched the phone from her hand and took off.
Police within the 52nd Precinct have reported the disappearance of Musa Camara, 28, of Norwood. He last seen near Montefiore Hospital’s Moses Campus at East 210th Street on Aug. 11. He is described as black, standing at six feet, and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt and black pants.
Wallet Stolen
Police want to talk a man wanted for questioning in the theft of a woman’s wallet stolen in front of C&N Liquor in Norwood a month ago. Police say the woman’s wallet contained $250 and several credit cards as was stolen on July 11 just before 1 a.m.
