Norwood’s representatives on the city and state level want you to bring your gripes to a town hall forum they’ve organized for tomorrow.
The legislators–Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz, state Sen. Jamaal Bailey, Assemblywoman Nathalia, and Councilman Andrew Cohen–will be on hand for the forum starting at 7 p.m. at Montefiore Medical Center’s Cherkasky Auditorium.
The forum allows residents to share any community concerns with the four representatives. For Dinowitz, this represents his fourth town hall since November, which has drawn roughly 100 residents on average.
“I’m hoping we get a good crowd. We have, in the past, trouble getting crowds,” said Dinowitz, who’s organized town halls in Woodlawn, Riverdale, and Van Cortlandt Village sections of the Bronx. The forum includes introductions by the various officials that’s followed by a questions directed at the elected officials.
Dinowitz hopes residents turn out in great numbers, given the variety of pressing issues happening in Norwood. He pointed to community’s ongoing traffic congestion, parking problems, and dearth of rent-regulated apartments that could use even greater protections once Albany tackles rent reform in the coming months. Dinowitz is a co-sponsor on the variety of rent reform bills that includes eliminating burdensome rent hikes.
“This is a very good format to hear from the community,” said Dinowitz, adding people can talk about “whatever they want.”
“We’ll try to get them answers and listen to what they have to say,” said Dinowitz.
Gary Axelbank of BronxNet Television’s “BronxTalk With Gary Axelbank” and “BronxBuzz” will moderate the town hall as he’s done in previous town halls.
