Edenwald: Murder Investigation Launched after Man is Shot on East 231st Street

The NYPD has launched a murder investigation after a man was fatally shot in the Edenwald section of The Bronx on Thursday afternoon, March 20, close to the border with Wakefield.

The incident took place at around 4.05 p.m., police said, when officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot inside 1101 East 231st Street.

“Upon arrival, a 32-year-old male was discovered unconscious and unresponsive with gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen,” a police spokesperson said. “EMS responded and transported the aided male to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.”

Police said there are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing. The deceased was identified as:
Xavier Goodson, 32, from Edenwald, The Bronx.
