Edenwald: 27-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies in Collision with Another Vehicle

A 27-year-old motorcyclist has died following a motor vehicle collision in the Edenwald section of The Bronx.

Police said that on Saturday, Nov. 9, at around 6.42 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Strang Avenue and Monticello Avenue.

 

Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a white 2021 BMW sedan, driven by a 22-year-old man, which was traveling eastbound on Strang Avenue when it collided with a 2009 Honda CBR 1000 motorcycle, driven by a 27-year-old man, which was traveling northbound on Monticello Avenue.

 

Police said that EMS responded to the scene and transported the 27-year-old motorcycle rider to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi where he was pronounced deceased. They said the 22-year-old driver of the BMW was not injured and remained on scene. They said there were no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.

 

The deceased has been identified as Miguel Malcolm, a 27-year-old man from Mount Vernon, NY.

 

In collision investigations, the NYPD handles all criminal aspects of the investigation, while NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) reviews the street design at the locations of such crashes.
