East Bronx: Murder Investigation Launches after 33-Year-Old Man is Shot Dead

A 33-year-old man has died following a fatal shooting in the early hours of Saturday morning in an area east of the Edenwald section of The Bronx, police said.

 

Police said that on Saturday, Oct. 26, at around 1.53 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding a dispute at 3475 Bivonia Street, within the border of the 47th Precinct / Police Service Area (PSA) 8.

 

PSA 8 serves NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA) developments within the borders of the 43rd and 45th precincts.

 

“Upon arrival, officers observed a 33-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest,” a police spokesperson said. “EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi where he was pronounced deceased.” 

 

Police said there are no arrests, the investigation remains ongoing, and the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.

 

Later, on Saturday night, an 11-year-old boy was shot in the left leg in the Belmont section of The Bronx, as reported.
