Driver Sought in Chain Reaction Crash

Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who veered out of his lane and collided with a truck in Bedford Park. A second vehicle then plowed into the back of the truck.

 

According to police the crash was reported at 12.20 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Jerome Avenue and Minerva Place in Bedford Park.

They said a 61-year-old male driver was driving a 2002 Ford box truck, heading northbound on Jerome Avenue, when the driver of a Dodge SUV headed southbound crossed over into oncoming traffic, colling with the truck.

 

They said at the same time, a 49-year-old man driving a 2016 Honda struck the back of the box truck. Police said the driver of the Dodge fled the crash scene on foot.

Fire Department officials said one victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police had no description of the driver of the Dodge vehicle.
