District 15 City Council Member Oswald Feliz hosts Family Day at Poe Park

District 15 City Council Member Oswald Feliz hosted a Family Day event at Poe Park on July 23, with music, games and some tasty food by Azara Service who served free chicken, Mac ‘n Cheese and plantain.

 

In a statement, the councilman said of the event, “We were honored to host our first annual ‘Feliz Family Day,’ a day where friends, neighbors, and community organizations, got together for a day of fun.”

He added, “It was great to see local residents spend quality time together – kids enjoying the jumping castle, families dancing to the live music, and residents enjoying each other’s presence. It is simple things like this that build strong and healthy communities, and we are thankful to everyone who participated and helped make this community event possible.”

Joining the attendees, young and older, on the day were members of the NYPD’s 52nd Precinct, members of the 52nd Precinct Community Council, the Vision Zero traffic safety team, Deputy Inspector Jeremy Scheublin, commanding officer of the 52nd Precinct, and Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark.

In terms of the status of the park renovation, Feliz provided an update on the matter, telling the community that his office had said recently spoken with the Parks Department about the capital improvements that will be made to it.

 

“The Parks Department is finalizing the design phase of the project, and should hopefully send us a proposed draft of the renovations in the next weeks,” he said.

The councilman added, “After this step, the project will head on to the bidding process, and then construction will start. We are going to transform the park into the park that local residents deserve: a state-of-the-art green park that is inviting to families in the community.”
