Safety Summit Scheduled for June 6

The NYPD is ratcheting up their outreach efforts with the community by hosting a so-called Safety Summit. The Neighborhood Coordination Officer program, where officers are dedicated to one sector instead of shifting around to respond to 911 calls, will host various meetings as a way to further connect with the community. It also puts a face to NCO officers who help clamp down on crime via tips it receives from those living in the neighborhoods they patrol.

Residents living within Sector D (see picture), which covers virtually all of Norwood from East Gun Hill Road and Webster Avenue to West Gun Hill Road and Mosholu Parkway, and Mosholu Parkway and Webster Avenue to East Gun Hill, are welcome to attend a meeting scheduled for June 6 at 6 p.m. It will be held at Mosholu Preservation Corporation, 3400 Reservoir Oval E., where the Norwood News has its office.

Residents are encouraged to bring questions to the forum, which will also give a breakdown of various crime patterns happening in their neighborhood. It will be hosted by NCO Officers Marielena Reilly-Derasmo and Paul White, who routinely patrol Sector D.
