Crime File: Argument Leads to Stabbing By Mosholu Library

An argument between two men in front of Mosholu Library ended with one of the men stabbed.

The incident happened on Oct. 21 at around 5:40 p.m. when the library was still opened, according to police. The 25-year-old victim got into an argument with the man that escalated into a physical confrontation, which then led to the victim getting stabbed in the abdomen. The attacker took off on foot, heading north on Bainbridge Avenue. The victim, meantime, was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital and was listed in serious condition. The 52nd Precinct has since tweeted a wanted photo of the suspect. A police source said the suspect is known to officers.

 

Police have set their sights on a man described as black, around 20 to 30 years old, 5′ 3″ and 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing eyeglasses and dark clothing.

Jerome Ave. Store Robbery
Cops need help identifying two men wanted for questioning in a robbery that happened at the Jerome Variety Store.

The incident happened at around 10:15 a.m. on Oct. 26 at the store at 3404 Jerome Ave. The suspect went inside the store and demanded free items and was quickly denied by the store employee. The suspect then produced a knife, demanding cash. The employee took $150 out of the register and gave it to the alleged thief before he took off. The employee was not hurt.

Cell Phone Attacker 
A woman remains on the loose after she punched a 13-year-old boy shortly after she took his cell phone. The incident happened in the vicinity of Creston Avenue and East 196th Street, on Oct. 17 at around 4:30 p.m. According to police, the stranger was hanging with a group of other men when asked the boy to see his cell phone. He gave it to her, but when he asked for it back she attacked him, punching him in the face and head before fleeing. The boy was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and was listed in stable condition.

Police describe the suspect as Hispanic, late teens to early 20s in age, and last seen wearing all gray clothing and a backpack. The value of the phone is estimated at $600, according to police.

Train Attack
Cops are on the hunt for a man who attacked a woman on board a northbound 5 train on Oct. 22.

It happened around 5 p.m. when the two got into an argument. The spat soon became physical, with the man punching the victim about the body. The woman left the train, while the perpetrator stayed, according to police. The victim was treated for injuries at the scene.

The suspect is described as white, 40 to 50 years old, 5′ 8″ tall and 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.
