Crime File: Cell Phone Theft Spike

Cellphone Thefts
Police have reported eleven linked incidents of cellphone theft from June 8 to July 7 happening within the 52nd Precinct. One of the thefts occurred on 3222 Bainbridge Ave. and was captured by surveillance cameras (below). The suspects also roam East 207th Street, Reservoir Oval, and Perry Avenue, all within the Norwood area. Police are looking for the individuals, who are males and females between the ages of 15-18. 

Nabbed Necklaces
On June 29, a nineteen-year-old was approached by two men on a scooter, who then snatched his necklace. A similar instance occurred on July 4 when two men on a scooter took a necklace from a 45-year-old man.

Cellphone Snatched
On July 11 near East Kingsbridge Road and Valentine Avenue in Kingsbridge Heights, a man took a cellphone out of another man’s hands and ran off with it. The robber is described as a Hispanic man who is bald with a beard, and was last seen wearing a black tank top, blue jeans, and black sandles.


Crime File: Missing ChildMissing 14-year-old
Police are looking for a missing 14-year-old girl, Nicole Zapata (pictured left), who disappeared from her home on July 17. She is described as 5’5” and weighing 125 lbs. She was last seen wearing black jeans, red and white sneakers, and a black Aeropostale sweater.
