The New York City Department of Housing, Preservation & Development (HPD) has launched an affordable housing lottery for 225 units at River Crest Apartments, located at 1164 River Avenue in the Concourse section of The Bronx.

Available on NYC Housing Connect, HPD’s online portal, are 225 newly constructed units located within the boundary of Bronx Community Board 4, which covers the neighborhoods of Mt. Eden, Highbridge, West Concourse, East Concourse and Concourse Village.

Individuals or households who meet the income and household size requirements listed in the below tables are eligible to apply. The eligible income range is $15,429 to $132,400 and the eligible household size is one to seven people.

Qualified applicants will be required to meet additional selection criteria.

Applicants who live in New York City receive a general preference for apartments.

According to HPD, the apartments feature luxury vinyl tile, and Caesarstone countertops with white appliances. There is also free in-unit, broadband internet.

Other amenities include assigned parking spaces, a shared laundry room, high-speed internet, outdoor areas, a recreation room, security cameras, an elevator, an accessible entrance, and a smoke-free environment.

The building is within walking distance of Yankee Stadium to the south, as well as to Mullaly Park.

Restaurants, beauty stores and general goods store are all nearby.

The building has a “no pet policy” except for elderly persons with disabilities or guide dogs for the legally blind.

The building is accessible via the B, D and 4 subways and via the Bx1, Bx2, and Bx35 buses. Tenants are responsible for paying their electricity bills.

Five percent of units are being set aside for those with mobility impairments, and 2 percent are being set aside for those with vision or hearing impairments.

Preference for a percentage of the units goes to community board residents (50 percent), and to New York City employees (5 percent).

Applicants requested to submit only one application per lottery. If applying online, do not send a paper application and vice versa. Applicants who submit more than one application may be disqualified.
The deadline to apply is June 27, 2022.

I would like to know when I get to the website what to select for an application ? I’m not understanding how to choose cause of so many options. Help me with this or send me an application in the mail ? I will try to do it. But it will be of good to send me an application ?

Norwood News does not have any application forms. We are just the messenger. Alternatively, you could also call New York City Department of Housing, Preservation & Development to ask them to walk you through the online process. Basically, you just go to where it says “How to Apply” and then under where it says “Apply Online,” click on “Apply Now.”
