A 3-alarm fire in Claremont Village on Aug. 4 resulted in injury to one firefighter according to FDNY officials.

An FDNY spokesperson said the fire was reported on Thursday morning, Aug. 4, at six minutes after midnight at 1325 Morris Avenue. According to the FDNY official, the fire was “on all floors of a 2-story dwelling.”

He added that around 33 units comprising 138 firefighters and EMS members responded to the scene. One injured firefighter was transported to an area hospital.

The fire was reported as being under control at around 1.16 a.m.

The FDNY is reminding residents that spray caps are available for free from any firehouse. However, opening fire hydrants at full throttle is illegal, wastes water, and may cause a fire hazard.
