CB7 to Vote on New District Manager

by Justin McCallum

Following a five month search, Community Board 7 will vote to fill the role of District Manager at tonight’s general meeting, held at 6:30pm at Serviam Gardens, 321 East 198th Street.

The position was previously held by Socrates Caba, who unexpectedly resigned on December 4, 2013 following just half a year on the job. In a letter, Caba explained he found new procedures “unsatisfactory,” but did not specify particular issues.

Prior to appointing Caba, the Personnel Committee had a seven month recruitment period after previous District Manager Fernando Tirado left due to ongoing tensions with the Board.

In the meantime, the job was filled in the interim by Tom Lucania, Director of Community Boards Unit and Legislative Affairs for the Bronx Borough President’s Office. In the search for the replacement, CB7 Chairwoman Adaline Walker-Santiago told the Norwood News “whoever applies, we’re going to screen them and make sure we’re on the same page.”

Check back later this evening and in the upcoming issue of Norwood News for further coverage and an introduction to Community Board 7’s new District Manager.
