CAUGHT: Alleged Daytime Rapist in Norwood

NYPD officers apprehended a suspect wanted in the rare daytime rape of a woman just a block from North Central Bronx Hospital.

Police arrested and charged German Otero, 36, of the Inwood section Manhattan, for raping the victim on Oct. 24 at an obscure spot on DeKalb Avenue and East 208th Street. Cops say the woman engaged in brief conversation with the suspect before luring her to an obscure spot in the area. That’s where he punched her in the face and raped her, according to police.

Police released video of the suspect. He was described as having a light complexion, about 28 years old, standing at 5′ 10″ and weighing around 150 pounds.

The 52nd Precinct has logged 21 cases of rape so far this year, down from 25 the same time a year ago, according to statistics.

Social media went wild over the rape incident, with many calling for swift justice for the victim.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or for Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
