Artist Calls on Volunteers to Help Repaint the “Norwood” Mural on Sunday, June 2

Bronx muralist and artist Laura Alvarez who, as reported, recently launched an online fundraiser to repaint the beloved “Norwood” mural, located on East 207th Street and Bainbridge Avenue in Norwood, after it was vandalized / tagged last year, is calling on the volunteers to join her in repainting the mural on Sunday, June 2, having carried out some preparatory work already on June 1. 

Two Bronx Fentanyl Dealers Linked to Eight Overdoses Plead Guilty in Federal Court

Federal prosecutors announced on May 30 that two Bronx men, Jesus Cabrera, 44, a/k/a “Gee,” and Michael Amaya, 42, a/k/a “Miz,” pled guilty to participating in a conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and fentanyl analogue, and Cabrera also pled guilty to a related firearm count. As part of the conspiracy, prosecutors said Cabrera and Amaya distributed the fentanyl and fentanyl analogue that resulted in the death of Malik Rahman on August 25, 2021, and added that both defendants pled guilty before U.S. District Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald.

New BronxNet Series Highlighting the Immigrant Experience Premieres on Juneteenth

The world premiere of the first episode of a new series focusing on the immigrant experience called “#Stressed” will air on BronxNet on June 19. Drawing on themes like the immigrant experience and body positivity, with an aspirational-themed narrative, the series highlights the diversity and commonality of immigrant experiences, beauty standards, and desires for success and acceptance through the lens of director Kobina de Graft-Johnson and creator and screenwriter Jasmine Patrice White.
