Norwood: Man Punches Woman in Wheelchair

The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance identifying the individual seen in the attached surveillance video and photos regarding an assault that occurred in the 52nd precinct. It was reported to police that on Friday, May 14, 2021 at around 11.45 a.m., at the northeast corner of Van Cortlandt Avenue East and Bainbridge Avenue in Norwood, aboard the BX#28 bus which was heading towards Bay Plaza, the suspect approached a 67-year-old woman sitting in her wheel chair, and with a closed fist, struck the victim in the face, before exiting the bus. The victim sustained pain and discomfort.

Lehman College Vaccination Site As reported, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is available at the Lehman College vaccination site, located at the APEX Athletic Center, 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West. The site is open to New Yorkers aged 16 or older, as well as to non-New York City residents aged 16 or older who work or study in the city. Eligible individuals aged 50 and over may walk-in without making an appointment, as long as they’re able to show proof of age. As a reminder, in accordance with alternate side parking (ASP) reform, streets without parking meters will be cleaned no more than once per week, per side. Parking meters remain in effect. Intermittent, full closures at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (Harlem River Lift Bridge) to and from Manhattan are scheduled on Friday, May 7, and Friday, May 14, from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge lifts to test mechanical functionality and allow completion of routine preventative maintenance. Opening of Lehman College Vaccination Site On Tuesday, April 20, Lehman College, CUNY formally announced that it has partnered with the City to launch the Bronx’s newest COVID-19 vaccination hub, located at the college’s APEX Athletic Center at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West in the borough’s Kingsbridge Heights neighborhood, as reported by Norwood News. The site is being run by SOMOS Community Care, and will serve up to 300 people a day with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The closure of the Bronx High School of Science mass vaccination site, effective April 15, was a blow to local seniors in the Bronx Community Board 7 district and beyond, as reported last week by Norwood News. A new COVID-19 vaccination site opened at Lehman College on Wednesday, April 14, though details of the new site had initially been scant. Happily, further information has since become available.
