The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has advised of the following street and bridge closures in the Bronx from April 1 to June 29. East 136th Street between Brown Place and Brook Avenue: This street will be closed Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through April 10 to facilitate crane operation. The MTA announced at the end of February that the newly redesigned Bronx local bus network is set to launch on Sunday, June 26. In preparation for these changes, the MTA and New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) are jointly commencing a large-scale public outreach effort to advise customers of the changes that will be implemented. Some bus riders will have started to see Guide-A-Ride inserts replaced since Monday, Feb. 28, with brightly colored inserts alerting bus riders that bus routes will be changing in the summer of 2022 at respective locations. The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has issued a winter operations advisory for Wednesday, March 9, beginning at 6 a.m., in advance of expected snowfall. A winter operations advisory is the department’s lower level winter weather message, as opposed to the higher level “snow alert.” Following warm temperatures earlier in the week, snow is expected to fall throughout the day Wednesday. Accumulation on pavement is not likely, but a coating to two inches may accumulate on unpaved surfaces.
