Sanitation Dept Issues Snow Alert for Sunday, January 19, at 7 a.m.

NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has issued a snow alert for Sunday, Jan. 19, beginning at 7 a.m. and continuing until 2 a.m. Monday. A snow alert is the department’s “higher level” snow-fighting notification, as opposed to the “lower level” winter operations advisory. DSNY officials said that while there have been several winter operations advisories issued this winter already, this is the first storm to warrant a snow alert.

UPDATE Spuyten Duyvil: MTA Bus Crashes into High Wall by Independence Ave after Seemingly Failing to Navigate Turn

There were no injuries reported after a BxM1 bus crashed into a high wall by 2601 Henry Hudson Parkway and Kappock Street / Independence Avenue in the Spuyten Duyvll section of The Bronx on Friday morning, Jan. 17, according to City officials. The FDNY said they received a call at 8.40 a.m. for a report of a bus hanging from an overpass. They said there were no reported injuries but emergency units are continuing to operate at the scene. Norwood Man Gets 40 Years to Life for Fatal Shooting of Bodega Clerk & Wounding of Bodega Owner

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Jan. 6 that a Bronx man from Norwood was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison after being convicted of second-degree murder and additional charges for fatally shooting a bodega clerk and wounding the store’s owner in the Mount Eden section of The Bronx in 2021.

UPDATE Fordham Manor: Group Seen with Stolen Vehicle No Longer Being Sought

The NYPD said on Jan. 8 that pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the group of people seen in the attached photo and video who they said were wanted for questioning in connection to the theft of a vehicle in Fordham Manor, are no longer being sought.
