The NYPD said two people are dead and two were injured in various subway incidents which took place across The Bronx last weekend.

Officials from the New York office of the National Weather Service (NWS) said on Tuesday, Dec. 10, that a strong frontal system will bring heavy rain and strong to damaging winds to much of New York throughout Wednesday, Dec. 11.

A minivan seemingly burst into flames on a residential street on Saturday evening in the University Heights section of The Bronx, damaging two other vehicles, as at least one young child was playing nearby.

An unidentified man has died after he was transported to hospital in critical condition following a subway accident during which he was seemingly struck by a D train at Kingsbridge Road subway station in Fordham Manor last weekend, police said.

Following the death amid a road collision on Saturday, Nov. 30, of 60-year-old local, volunteer football coach Dwight Downer, players, friends and colleagues have been paying tribute to their friend and mentor. Downer coached local football team the Bronx Buccaneers, who regularly practice in the Williamsbridge Oval in Norwood, as well as Bedford Park’s DeWitt Clinton football team.

A 60-year-old male pedestrian who was a beloved Norwood-based football coach, Dwight Downer, has died following a motor vehicle accident involving six vehicles in the East Bronx, according to the NYPD.
