Police confirm a man and woman were killed, and two other passengers were injured following a 3-vehicle collision that took place on the Cross Bronx Expressway on Friday, and shut down the busy roadway for nearly five hours. Following a winter hiatus, and the successful completion of earlier stages of construction and roadway work which began in September 2020, the MTA Bridges and Tunnels division announced that it is resuming roadway work, and advancing to the next stage of deck replacement at Throggs Neck Bridge. New York City Emergency Management (EMS) issued a travel advisory on Thursday, Feb. 24, which is in effect through Friday, Feb. 25. The National Weather Service had issued a winter weather advisory for New York City the same day which is also in effect until 1 p.m. on Friday. According to Thursday’s forecast, snow was due to fall on Thursday night and change to a mix of sleet, rain, and possible freezing rain early Friday morning. A truck was pictured reportedly stuck and somewhat damaged under the subway elevated structure at W 238th Street and Broadway in the Kingsbridge section of The Bronx on Tuesday, Feb. 15. A 50-year-old man has died following a car accident in the vicinity of Bronx Park. Police said on Sunday, Feb. 6, at approximately 5.13 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding a vehicle collision on the southbound Bronx River Parkway at East Fordham Road. Upon arrival, they observed a vehicle that had been involved in a collision and a 50-year-old man with serious injuries. EMS also responded and transported the man to NYC Health + Hospitals/ Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased. The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
