Bronx Street, Bridge Closures and General Transportation Updates as of May 5 through 2026

New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), the MTA, NYC Department of Transportation (DOT), New York City Department of Design & Construction (DDC), the NYPD, and other government agencies and private entities have shared the following street and bridge closures and transportation updates for The Bronx through 2026, as of Friday, May 5.   Bridge & Street Closures  Broadway Bridge over the Harlem River Through 19, the right lane in each direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and an alternating center-lane in one of two directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 a.m.

UPDATE National Weather Service Issues Flood Advisory, in Effect until Monday May 1 at 5 a.m.

The New York City and Long Island office of the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flood advisory on April 30 at around 10.30 p.m. which officials say is in effect until Monday, May 1, at 5 a.m.   Officials said flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected in portions of northeast New Jersey and southeast New York, including the counties of The Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Queens, and Richmond (Staten Island).   They said that at 10.25 p.m. on Sunday, a doppler radar indicated that several bands of moderate to locally heavy rain would move through the

National Weather Service: Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued April 1 from 5:10 p.m. to 10 p.m.  

The National Weather Service storm prediction center issued a severe thunderstorm watch on April 1 which they said is in effect from 5:10 p.m. until 10 p.m. on April 1.    Officials said the thunderstorm watch is in effect for the following New York counties: Albany, The Bronx, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Herkimer, Kings, Montgomery, Nassau, New York (Manhattan), Orange, Putnam, Queens, Rensselaer, Richmond, Rockland, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Suffolk, Ultster and Westchester.   Residents are advised to take precaution when traveling as visibility may be poor.   Meanwhile, New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) is reminding all builders, contractors,

UPDATE Relocated Ridgewood Bank on White Plains Road Celebrates with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The busy corridor of businesses along White Plains Road in Williamsbridge now includes a very modern and renovated branch of Ridgewood Savings Bank. On March 10, local officials joined senior bank management for a ribbon-cutting reopening ceremony at 3951 White Plains Road.   In his opening remarks, Leonard Stekol, chairman, president, and CEO of Ridgewood Savings Bank, said the reopening involved not only a move to a new location but to a building which had undergone various upgrades. “I want to emphasize that while we moved the White Plains Road branch only a few short blocks, this new state-of-the-art [branch]
