South Bronx: Gibson Delivers 2nd State of the Borough Address at Cardinal Hayes High School

Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson delivered her 2nd Annual State of the Borough Address at Cardinal Hayes High School in the auditorium named after Bronx legend and Bronx Walk of Fame inductee Regis Philbin, on April 18, 2024. The borough president outlined major accomplishments that include an investment of over $35 million in education and over $8.9 million in capital allocations to public and private health facilities. 

Legendary Yankees Radio Voice John Sterling to Retire & Be Recognized on April 20 at Yankee Stadium

The New York Yankees announced on Monday, April 15, that legendary Yankees play-by-play radio voice John Sterling, who has called 5,420 regular season Yankees games, and 211 postseason Yankees games, is retiring effective immediately. The team said Sterling will be recognized in a pregame ceremony on Saturday, April 20, and will visit the WFAN booth during the game. Additionally, they said he will be made available to media in the Yankee Stadium press conference room prior to the 1:05 p.m. match-up against Tampa Bay.

Garden Legends Celebrate Food Pantry Opening at P.S. 113-X

Sports legends, John Starks of the New York Rangers and Brian Patrick Mullen of the NY Knicks, joined students and faculty of P.S. 113-X on Wednesday, March 13, in the Williamsbridge section of The Bronx for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for one of three new school food pantry openings taking place across the five boroughs, thanks to The Garden of Dreams Foundation and New York Edge.

UPDATE Woodlawn: Bob Nolan Honored by BP at Irish Heritage Month Celebration

Former City official and aide to four former Bronx borough presidents, Robert “Bob” Francis Nolan, who died on Dec. 15, 2023 at the age of 70, as reported, was honored with a posthumous award in the presence of his family during an Irish Heritage Month celebration hosted by the Office of the Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson on March 27.
