Mayor, Council Speaker Strike Deal on $112.4 Billion Balanced FY 2025 Budget
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, Council Finance Chair Justin Brannan, members of the City Council, and senior members of the Adams administration announced an agreement on Friday, June 28, for an on-time, balanced, and fiscally-responsible $112.4 billion adopted budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2025.
Clean The Bronx and Get Free Yankees Tickets as Part of the Summer Clean-up Series
The Sanitation Foundation, the official nonprofit partner of NYC Department of Sanitation, in conjunction with The Office of the Bronx Borough President, is gearing up to kick off the Fourth Annual Bronx Summer Clean-up Series. The Foundation is also working in partnership with The New York Yankees, with the support of NYC Service and Amazon. Throughout the summer, volunteers will be cleaning up five of the borough’s most interesting and vibrant neighborhoods. The first clean-up event will take place on June 22.
The 24th Season of “Hoops in the Sun” Takes Place at Orchard Beach this Weekend, June 15-16
Representatives for Hoops in the Sun Inc. (HITS), a leading community-based basketball program, say they are proud to bring the 24th season of “Roundball Classic Summer Tournaments,” to Orchard Beach Park on Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16, starting at noon on their sponsored courts in Orchard Beach Park. Organizers said the event features the best basketball talent from all ages and boroughs in New York City.
UPDATE Unity Democrats Allege “Dinowitz Democratic Team” Ran Political Campaign Out of Local Nonprofit
Local political organization, The Unity Democratic Club, is calling out the “Dinowitz Democratic Team,” a slate of candidates the club alleges were recruited and funded by local Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (A.D. 81), for allegedly violating a long-standing congressional ban on [political] campaign activity by nonprofits, a law administered by the IRS. Early voting begins on Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Bronx Week 2024 Celebrates The Best of The Bronx
As usual, the 53rd Annual Bronx Week celebrated the best of what the borough has to offer, and took place this year from Monday, May 6, through Sunday, May 19. It featured a host of events honoring seniors, youth, parents, educators, entertainers, small businesses, healthcare professionals, union members, veterans, industry professionals, volunteers and more.
