UPDATE Edenwald Man Shot Dead by Police after Apparent Multiple Stabbing of Family Members in Queens Home

Five family members have died, including one deceased perpetrator who police say is from the Edenwald section of The Bronx and is a cousin to some of the family members, following a multiple stabbing incident, residential fire, and police shooting in the Far Rockaway section of Queens in the early hours of Sunday morning, Dec. 3. Two police officers and another family member were also injured in the incident.

UPDATE FDNY Called to Tracey Towers for Compactor Fire

A compactor fire at Tracey Towers, the twin-tower, Mitchel Lama, residential housing complex located on the Bedford Park/Norwood border, on Saturday, Nov. 25, resulted in no injuries, according to the FDNY.

Two related blood cancers that disproportionally target older adults called acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), are notoriously difficult to treat and are associated with high relapse rates, according to medical experts at Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center (MECCC). Although new therapies have improved survival rates, they say treatment options remain limited, and the prognosis for the 50% of people who have these cancers, remains poor.
