Bronx H.S. of Science Student Honored by Girl Scouts for Advocacy of Deaf & Hard of Hearing Community
Sarah Lin, a senior at Bedford Park’s Bronx High School of Science, has been chosen as Girl Scouts of Greater New York’s (GSGNY) 2024 Future Woman of Distinction, and was honored for her exemplary leadership and advocacy according to the organization. GSGNY presented Lin with the prestigious award at its 32nd Annual Women of Distinction breakfast on October 30.

City Council Member Althea Stevens (C.D. 16) joined other officials on Friday, Oct. 11, to present a check for $25,000 to the nonprofit organization SCAN Harbor, Inc., to fund programming and general renovations at the Rev. T. Wendell Foster Recreation Center located in the Concourse section of The Bronx.

Unity Dems, Rivera Campaign for “Yes” Vote to Prop 1
The Unity Democratic Club joined State Sen. Gustavo Rivera (S.D. 33) on Sunday, Oct. 13, in Riverdale to urge voters to flip their ballot and vote “Yes” to Proposition 1 (Prop 1) in the upcoming general election on Nov. 5. Prop 1 is one of six proposals on the ballot this year and requires a vote by New Yorkers on whether to change the State Constitution, after the NY State Legislature passed the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in two consecutive legislative sessions.
