State committeewoman for Assembly District 78, Rachel Bradshaw, Fordham Hill Co-op board secretary, and candidate in the upcoming Democratic City Council primary election for District 14, joined a group of supporters on Saturday, May 27, as she took her campaign to unseat the incumbent, Council Member Pierina Sanchez who has held the seat since 2022, to the streets of Fordham Manor.   District 14 broadly encompasses some or all of the neighborhoods of Kingsbridge Heights, Fordham Manor, Fordham Heights, Bedford Park, University Heights, Mt. UPDATE Guerinos Against Graffitti* Share Results of Local Clean-Up of East 204th Street

Local graffiti removal group, Guerinos against Graffitti* have been thanked by their neighbors following the group’s confirmation that most of the graffiti on 204th Street between Mosholu Parkway and Valentine Avenue in Bedford Park has been recently removed. UPDATE Unionport: One-Month-Old Baby Girl Critical following Car Crash

A one-month-old baby girl is in critical condition following a motor vehicle accident in the Unionport section of The Bronx, police said.   A police spokesperson said the two-vehicle collision occurred on Tuesday, June 6, at 6.41 p.m. at Castle Hill Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard.   “The one-month-old, female child / infant was in one of the two vehicles,” the spokesperson said. “She sustained critical injuries. Fordham Manor: Law Day at Monroe College Centers on Cornerstones of Democracy

Montefiore Einstein Give Out Free New Bikes to P.S. 199 Students during National Bike Safety Month

Twenty-eight students from P.S. 199, The Shakespeare School, were the lucky recipients of new bikes last week thanks to the Montefiore School Health Program and the Montefiore Einstein Center for Performance Improvement.   The bikes were presented to the students at their school, located at 1449 Shakespeare Avenue in the Mt. UPDATE Baychester: 10 Hospitalized following Motor Vehicle Collision

Officials from The Fire Department of New York said 10 people were transported to hospital following a motor vehicle collision on Monday afternoon in Baychester, south of Co-op City, and one further person was also injured but not hospitalized.   The incident was reported at 3.18 p.m. at Einstein Loop North and Hutchinson River Parkway East on Monday, May 15, and involved four separate vehicles.   An NYPD spokeswoman said an 80-year-old man was driving a jeep traveling northbound on Hutchinson River Parkway when he collided at the intersection with a yellow school bus, driven by a 72-year-old woman.

New York Institute for Special Education Students Race Once Again for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

More than 100 preschoolers, aged 3 to 5, who are participants in the “Readiness Program” at the New York Institute for Special Education (NYISE) raced their tricycles once again throughout the school halls for the school’s annual “Trike-a-Thon” fundraiser benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.   The annual event took place this year at the school, located at Frampton Hall, 985 Astor Avenue in the Allerton section of The Bronx, on Wednesday, May 10.
