Judge Vacates Conviction of Kimberly Hanzlik for Role in 1999 Bronx Murder of Joseph Brown Amid New Evidence
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Tuesday, Nov. 26, that she joined a request to vacate the conviction and dismiss charges against Kimberly Hanzlik in the 1999 fatal shooting of Joseph Brown in the Throggs Neck section of The Bronx, after a review of the case by the DA’s Conviction Integrity Bureau (CIB) yielded new evidence that Hanzlik’s conviction was based on an unreliable identification of her as it pertained to the incident.

Former Bronx Resident Arrested for Attempting to Provide Material Support to ISIS & Sharing Info on Homemade Explosives
Federal prosecutors announced on Friday, Nov. 22, that a former 33-year-old Bronx resident, Erald Alimehmeti, was arrested in connection with a complaint charging him with allegedly attempting to provide material support to ISIS (the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham) and allegedly distributing instructional information regarding the making of explosives. Alimehmeti appeared in federal court Friday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Stewart D. Aaron and was ordered detained.
UPDATE Bedford Park: Concern Over Car Break-Ins
A resident of Bedford Park recently complained that there have been several car break-ins taking place on East 205th Street between Jerome Avenue and Paul Avenue, and shared some video footage with Norwood News of broken glass on the block as apparent evidence of the break-ins. He stressed that he, himself, was not directly affected but was concerned about the situation nonetheless.
