District 18 City Council Member Amanda Farías presented a check of $25,000 to support Jacobi’s Stand Up to Violence (SUV) program in early February. The NYPD said a 13-year-old girl who had been reported missing from Norwood has returned home.   Prior to her return, police said that it had been reported to them that Leanna Fernandez of Hull Avenue had last been seen on Friday, March 3, at around 7.30 a.m., leaving her home. District 11 City Council Member Eric Dinowitz, in partnership with BetaNYC, has launched a new mapping tool which shows the level of playground accessibility for residents near their homes and schools. Fordham Manor: Fire at 2728 Morris Avenue Results in 5 Minor Injuries

Belmont: 25-Year-Old Man Dies following Shooting

The NYPD has opened a homicide investigation following the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man in Belmont.   Police said that on Sunday, Feb. 26, at approximately 1.24 a.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired at the intersection of Bathgate Avenue and East 183rd Street.   “Upon arrival, officers observed a 25-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to the head,” an NYPD spokesperson said. “EMS responded and transported the aided male to St. Barnabas hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
