As NYPD “Roving Band” Pursuits Continue in Norwood, NYPD Cracks Down with More Targeted Seizures
As the “roving bands” of illegal dirt bikes and ATVs [all-terrain vehicles] continued in the north Bronx throughout March, even after one rider was sought for tossing a brick at police officers in Norwood, and a second ATV biker was struck by an SUV in Bedford Park, potentially while fleeing police, the NYPD have stepped up targeted seizures of such bikes, most recently in the vicinity of East Tremont Avenue and Creston Avenue in the Mt. Hope section.
Najhim Luke Gets 25 Years for Fatally Shooting Rising Basketball Star Brandon Hendricks in Crossfire
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Friday, April 5, that Najhim Luke, 26, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison and five years post release supervision for killing Brandon Hendricks, a 17-year-old high school, rising basketball star and academic standout. He was shot in crossfire by a stray bullet, as reported.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced the launch of a new, e-bike safety campaign on March 19. The lives of Nat Solomon and Cecilia Greene, described by those who knew them as dedicated community activists, were celebrated recently during a heartfelt memorial event held in Van Cortlandt Village after they recently passed away one day apart. The late Nat Solomon died on Monday, Jan. 22, aged 80, and as reported, the late Cecilia Greene died on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the age of 91.
