Coming quickly on the heels of last month’s announcement of the roadmap for citywide curbside composting service, NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) announced on Monday, March 6, that all NYC Department of Education (DOE) schools in The Bronx will receive five-nights-per-week collection of compostable material. Dinowitz & BetaNYC Launch New Map Showing Accessible City Playgrounds

District 11 City Council Member Eric Dinowitz, in partnership with BetaNYC, has launched a new mapping tool which shows the level of playground accessibility for residents near their homes and schools. The map was designed to provide an easy way for residents and their families to locate playgrounds that are safe and accessible and to accommodate those with disabilities.   The new mapping tool includes detailed information about each playground throughout New York City, including the types of accessible features that are available at each playground. UPDATE Crotona: Brothers Aged 12 and 15 Reported Missing Now Found

The NYPD said on Monday, Dec. 12, that two brothers from the Tremont section of The Bronx who had been reported missing have been found and are “in good condition.”   Prior to being located, Jessiah Campell, 15, of East Tremont Avenue, Bronx, NY, and his 12-year-old brother, Justice Campbell, of the same address had last been seen on Friday, Dec. 9, at 8 a.m., leaving their home. Edenwald: Grenade Deemed Inert by NYPD Bomb Squad

The NYPD Bomb Squad has deemed a grenade found in the Edenwald section of The Bronx inert.   The incident occurred on Friday, Dec. 9, at around 4 p.m. at 3917 Wilder Avenue. Norwood: Grenade Found in Williamsbridge Oval Deemed Inert / a Toy by NYPD Bomb Squad

  Under some glorious fall sunshine, Friends of Mosholu Parkland (FOMP) were back with gusto as they celebrated a delightful, organic-themed Fall / Halloween Community Festival in Mosholu Playground at P.S. 8 in Bedford Park on Saturday, Oct. 15.   The festival drew local kids dressed in Halloween costumes, as they munched on hot dogs, popcorn, donuts and treats.
