Santa Gets a Ride on the 52nd Precinct Holiday Float Around the Local Neighborhood

As is customary each year during the festive season, members of the 52nd Precinct joined Santa Claus as they traveled aboard their usual Holiday Float through some of the neighborhoods that fall within the boundaries of the precinct i.e. Bedford Park, Fordham, Kingsbridge, Norwood, Bronx Park, and University Heights on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Bronx Community Board 7 (CB7) members were joined by veterans, residents of the district, Bedford Mosholu Community Association (BMCA) members, members of the 52nd Precinct Community Council and others for their 2nd Annual Veterans Day Commemoration held at the Bronx Victory Memorial on Mosholu Parkway in Bedford Park to mark Veterans Day.

Among the 51,402 finishers in the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 5, were two local runners and members of Norwood-based running group, Bronx Nomads. We spoke to both women ahead of, and on, race day as they joined what New York Road Runners said was the world’s largest marathon of 2023, and the third-largest edition of the race in the event’s history.

Gibson joined veterans, District 11 City Council Member Eric Dinowitz, Assembly Member Jeffrey Dinowitz (A.D. 81), NYC Department of Veterans Services Commissioner James Hendon, officials from Van Cortlandt Park Alliance, Sergio Villaverde, vice chair of Bronx Community Board 8, other board members and guests on Sunday, Nov. 5, for Van Cortlandt Park’s 17th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony. 

2024 Open Streets and Public Space Programming Application Period Now Open

The application period for 2024 Open Streets and Public Space Programming is now open. NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) officials say its New York City’s Open Streets program transforms streets into public space open to all and are now soliciting submissions from New Yorkers for 2024.
