Applications are open for college-bound Bronx high school seniors for the Annual $20,000 Brandon Hendricks (College) Scholarship, sponsored by Oyate Group through Monday, March 31. The Bronx-based nonprofit, on a mission to alleviate poverty across NYC, is inviting as many college-bound, high school students as possible to apply to avail of the opportunity.

UPDATE Montefiore Nurses Rally to Oppose Planned Cuts
Montefiore Bronx-based nurses held a rally organized by the NYS Nurses Association on Friday, Feb. 28, at 111 East 210th Street in Norwood, outside the private hospital group’s Moses campus. They said their goal was “to save hospital beds and services, and end overcrowding in the emergency departments and hospital floors at Montefiore Moses and Weiler.” The Montefiore Weiler campus is located in Morris Park.
Bronx Basketball Player Proves to be the Sharpest 3-Point Shooter in 3V3 Tournament
Twelve-year-old Crystal, a student attending Boston Secor Community Center’s “Roads to Success” cornerstone program in Easchester, proved to be the sharpest 3-point shooter during a basketball shoot-out contest held on Feb. 20 at The Post in Brooklyn. The event was part of the Roads to Success Annual Basketball 3V3 Tournament, which brought together middle school students from The Bronx, Harlem and Brooklyn.
