Bronx Woman Gets Two Years for Assaulting Metro-North Train Conductor

Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah and Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Chief of Police John Mueller announced on Thursday, Jan. 11, that a Bronx woman was sentenced to two years in state prison for assaulting a Metro-North Railroad conductor.

UPDATE Carpenters & Contractors Union Spread Holiday Cheer Toy Drives Across The Bronx  

The New York City & Vicinity District Council of Carpenters delivered over 2,000 toys to children throughout the Bronx and New York City this holiday season. They partnered with local elected officials and community organizations for 14 events throughout New York City, include 4 in the Bronx. The holiday season is joyful but can be difficult for so many New Yorkers, and union carpenters and contractors wanted to do their part to give back to those in need.

Funeral Arrangements Announced for Norwood Community Leader Joseph McCarthy

Former Norwood teacher and Perry Avenue resident, Joseph McCarthy, died on Sunday, Jan. 7, aged 79. The news was confirmed by his brother, John, who described Joe as a local influential figure and community leader in the ‘60s ’70s and ’80s, who was heavily involved with the local school board.
