Gillibrand Condemns Rape & Sexual Violence by Hamas Against Israelis, Calls Out UN Women for Silence

U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand delivered remarks at a special session convened by Israel’s Permanent Mission to the U.N. on Monday, Dec. 4. At the session, Gillibrand and other women’s rights experts denounced the use of rape and sexual violence committed by Hamas terrorists against Israeli women and girls. Almost four years on from the start of the pandemic, the long lines of Bronxites waiting at Bedford Park’s Tracey Towers for free turkeys at one of several giveaways held in the lead up to Thanksgiving, show food insecurity, amid the prevailing high cost of food, is still a concern for many Bronxites.

Fordham Heights: Torres Awards $800K for Urban Farming Program in 20 Schools

U.S. Rep. Ritchie Torres (NY-15) has awarded $800,000 in community project funding to New York Sun Works, a local nonprofit dedicated to integrating the science of sustainability and climate education into K-12 urban schools. Torres visited X225 Theatre Arts Production Company School in Fordham Heights on Monday, Oct. 30, to see their hydroponic program in action and to formally make the check presentation in a classroom dedicated to the program.

It was a beautiful, sunshine-filled day for the Second Annual Fall Festival held on Saturday, Oct. 28, in St. James Park in Fordham Manor where around 600 Bronx families enjoyed food, games, and were also able to avail of community resources and information services on a variety of topics.
