Two 11-year-old girls are recovering from their injuries at Jacobi hospital following a hit & run incident in the Belmont section of The Bronx, police said. A police spokesperson said that on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at around 5.40 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle collision involving two pedestrians who had been struck in the vicinity of Arthur Avenue and East 180th Street, located in the 48th Precinct. “Upon arrival, officers observed two 11-year-old, female pedestrians with minor injuries,” the spokesperson said. “EMS responded to the location and transported the victims to Jacobi Hospital,

A fire broke out in the Bedford Park section of The Bronx on Monday evening and one person was transported to a borough hospital for treatment. Fire department officials said they received a call at 7.16 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, regarding a fire in progress at 219 Miriam Street. A car driver crashed into the wall surrounding the Williamsbridge Oval park at the corner of Wayne Avenue and Reservoir Oval West in Norwood on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 10. A fire broke out at Fordham Hill Oval Housing Co-op in the University Heights section of the Bronx on Thursday evening, Dec. 8, FDNY officials said. There were no injuries, they added. A fire which broke out in the Norwood section of the Bronx has resulted in no injuries, according to the FDNY. Fire department officials said they received a call on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 9.13 a.m. regarding a fire on the 2nd floor of a 5-story building (100 x 60 sq. ft.) at 315 East 206th Street. Following an early morning, Nov. 24th, residential fire in which two people died at 1730 Harrison Avenue in Morris Heights, the FDNY is encouraging the public to check out their fire safety tips, while a GoFundMe page has been set-up to support the victims of the tragedy.
