Early last month, I received a direct message from a friend of mine, alerting me that Lydia Sadler had suffered a traumatic asthma attack, resulting in complications that put her on life support in the NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital in Manhattan. Several days later on Feb. 12, the follow-up message relayed the catastrophic news: Lydia had died, selflessly donating her organs for the furtherance of someone else’s life.

Bronx Parks Speak-Up Held at Lehman College

The 31st Bronx Parks Speak-Up event took place at Lehman College in Bedford Park on Saturday Feb. 22. Funded by the Bronx Council for Environmental Quality (BCEQ) through a Con Edison environmental stewardship grant and held in conjunction with the Bronx Coalition of Parks and Green Spaces (BCPGS), the annual event draws various Bronx environmental organizations, parks groups, and residents together to discuss and learn how to preserve and make the most of the borough’s natural environment.

Ocasio-Cortez Introduces Bipartisan Bill to Cap Credit Card Interest Rates at 10%

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), a Democrat, and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13), a Republican representing Florida, introduced legislation that would immediately cap credit card interest rates at 10%. U.S. Senators Bernie Sanders (I-VT), an independent representing Vermont, and Josh Hawley (R-MO), a Republican representing Missouri, introduced companion legislation last month in the Senate.
