Regal Movie Theater Opens at Concourse Plaza

The Regal Concourse movie theater held its grand opening, as promised, on March 18 at the former site of Multiplex Cinema, which closed in May 2024, on Concourse Plaza in the Concourse section of The Bronx. The latest opening now brings the number of movie theaters in the borough to a grand total of two, the other being The Mall at Bay Plaza in the East Bronx.

Op-Ed: Why I Oppose Gov. Hochul’s Proposed Mask Restrictions

Regarding Gov. Hochul’s proposed mask ban, which she seeks to bundle into New York’s upcoming state budget (due to be finalized by March 31), I oppose the ban. As a disabled Jewish woman who engages in activism, I find the possible codification of this measure to be a horrific violation of human and civil rights, in multiple ways:

UPDATE The Return of the Rollin’ Colon

The Rollin’ Colon, a 10-foot-high inflatable colon, returned to Montefiore Einstein on Friday, March 28, to educate the community about colorectal cancer. Montefiore Einstein officials said the event, highlighting Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, which takes place each March, was interactive and the goal was to educate Bronx residents on how to prevent and treat the disease.

Bronx Buccaneers Start New Season Without “Coach D”

The Bronx Buccaneers football team were back at the Williamsbridge Oval in Norwood for the first training session of the new season on Saturday, March 15, this time without their beloved coach Dwight “Coach D” Downer, who, as reported, was tragically killed in a hit & run incident involving six vehicles in the East Bronx just after midnight on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024.

Williamsbridge 31-Year-Old Woman Dies in Fatal Shooting

A 31-year-old woman has died following a shooting in the Williamsbridge section of The Bronx, police said. It comes amid news of a 17-year-old who was stabbed in Williamsbridge on April 1 and as a 27-year-old man was fatally shot in Belmont the same day.
