Lehman Center for the Performing Arts presents an ABBA Tribute Show “Arrival from Sweden” on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m. According to the Center’s representatives, “Arrival from Sweden” is one of the world’s most popular and best selling ABBA tribute bands. “Hailed as the closest you will ever get to ABBA, the show masters the Nordic band’s spirit with sensational vocals, breathtaking arrangements, and incredible costumes,” they said.

The New York Lottery announced one top-prize winning ticket was sold in The Bronx for the Oct 31 TAKE 5 Evening drawing. The ticket was sold at Fairfield Food Inc., located at 2525 3rd Avenue, and was worth $17,751.50.

Bronx Symphony Orchestra’s 2023-2024 50th Season Opens Oct. 22 at Lehman College

The Orchestra of the Bronx, founded and conducted by Michael Spierman, returns on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 3 p.m. for a free concert at Lehman College’s Lovinger Theatre, performing Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 (the Eroica). Spierman leads a 40-member orchestra of musicians drawn from other major orchestras and Broadway shows.

Mexican Independence Day Celebrated in The Bronx

Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson joined the Consul General of Mexico in New York and community partners to host a celebration outside Bronx Borough Hall on Friday, Sept. 15, in recognition of Mexican independence. On the sunny September day, the mood was cheery, amid music, laughs, and the raising of the Mexican flag.

Hip Hop Comes Home!

Though most argue it hasn’t ever left, Hip Hop officially came home to 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Morris Heights section of The Bronx with a special free block party and concert, marking its 50th anniversary at its birthplace on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023. Performers included KRS One, Flavor Flav of Public Enemy, The Sugar Hill Gang, Slick Rick, Talib Kweli of Black Starr, the Cold Crush Brothers, Chuck D, C.L. Smooth, Hakim Green, Wise Intelligent, Peter Gunz, and many more.
