UPDATE Freeze Warning & Travel Advisory in Effect

The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning on Monday afternoon, Nov. 20, which is in effect until Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 8 a.m. with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees expected in The Bronx, New Jersey, Hudson County, Manhattan, Staten Island and southern Nassau counties.

City Councilman Eric Dinowitz (C.D. 11) gave a budget presentation to district residents on Wednesday, Aug. 2, highlighting some of the local initiatives that will benefit from funding, following the adoption of the City’s $107 billion budget for the 2024 fiscal year. The councilman went over the city budget process, discussed the major highlights from the latest adopted city budget, and broke down some of the $30 million plus in discretionary funding for capital projects and other funding secured for C.D. 11, in conjunction with Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson.

UPDATE FDNY Called to Tracey Towers for Electrical Incident

Reports of a fire at Tracey Towers, a Mitchel Lama, residential housing complex located on the Bedford Park/Norwood border, on Saturday morning, July 15, proved to be unfounded, and the incident was later classified as an electrical issue, FDNY officials said.

DOT Launches Initiative to Reduce Package Theft & Negative Environmental Impact of Truck Deliveries

New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced on June 30 that the agency will launch LockerNYC, a pilot program this summer to cut down on package theft and reduce delivery truck trips. The LockerNYC pilot program, which will run for one year, will allow New Yorkers to conveniently receive and send packages using secure lockers on public sidewalks, DOT officials said.   The pilot will include 15 locations and offer customers free 24/7 access, according to DOT officials. They said the program will be available to anyone who is interested and, unlike other delivery lockers, the LockerNYC program
