DC9 Painters & Allied Trades to Conduct 3 Trade Apprentice Recruitment Drives in June

  On Friday, June 2, District Council 9 (DC9) Painters & Allied Trades will be conducting three formal apprentice recruitment drives throughout June. They will be conducted at the union’s training center in Long Island City, NY, where accepted applicants will complete their training. Farrah Kule Rubin Appointed as New District Manager of Bronx Community Board 8

Farrah Kule Rubin is the new Bronx Community Board 8 district manager. UPDATE Williamsbridge: Four Burned in Construction Site Work-Place Incident

Four people were injured following a burn-related incident at 739 East Gun Hill Road, the site of a new building under construction, on Monday morning, May 15, FDNY officials said.   All hands were asked to respond to the location at 8.38 a.m. on Monday. An FDNY spokesperson told Norwood News, “It was not a fire. UPDATE Police Officer Arrested on DWI Charge in 50th Precinct

An off-duty New York City employee was arrested and charged in the 50th Precinct on Saturday, police said.   An NYPD spokesperson said that on Saturday, May 13, Eriverto Carino, 24, an off-duty NYPD Officer was arrested within the boundaries of the 50th Precinct, which falls under the command of Captain Filastine Srour and covers the neighborhoods of Kingsbridge, Marble Hill, Riverdale, Fieldston, and Spuyten Duyvil, as well as Van Cortlandt Park.   Carino was charged with driving while intoxicated or impaired.   Police said the officer was assigned to the recruit training section of the department.   A person

Burgos Condemns Use of E-Verify System for Immigrants as Federal NYC Delegation Calls to Allow Asylum Seekers Work

Following the passage of a new law in the Florida state legislature that would require employers of 25 employees or more to step up requirements to check the immigration status of workers, Democratic Bronx Assemblyman Kenny Burgos (A.D. 85) and Democratic State Sen.
