Torres Co-Leads Bipartisan Bill to Address Childcare Affordability

Rep. Ritchie Torres (NY-15) co-led the introduction on Wednesday, Feb. 28, of legislation described by his office as groundbreaking, to tackle the pressing issue of childcare affordability faced by families across the nation. Officials from to the Bronx congressman’s office said the bipartisan measure, known as the Combatting High Inflation Limiting Daycare Act, or the “CHILD Act,” seeks to provide much-needed relief to American families struggling to meet the rising costs of childcare by doubling the annual contribution limit for tax-advantaged Dependent Care Flexible Savings Accounts (DCFSAs).

Norwood: Reopening of CVS Pharmacy on Bainbridge Avenue Expected in Spring

Following the early morning commercial fire which destroyed several small businesses on Bainbridge Avenue, located between East 205th and East 206th Streets in Norwood in October 2023, workers were seen working on the interior of the shuttered CVS Pharmacy on Wednesday, Feb. 21, signaling a potential reopening.

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying and locating the person seen in the attached photos and video who they say is wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred in Norwood on Presidents’ Day. 

UnitedHealthcare and Montefiore Health System Reach Agreement on Healthcare Plan

UnitedHealthcare and Montefiore Health System (Montefiore) have reached an agreement which  UnitedHealthcare says ensures its members who are enrolled in New York UnitedHealthcare Community Plan (Medicaid), Medicare Advantage, and Group Retiree plans have access to Montefiore’s providers and hospitals in New York, effective Feb. 1, 2024.
