UPDATE University Heights: Owner of Pitbull Which Savagely Attacked Cat Arrested on Animal Cruelty & Other Charges

The NYPD said cops have arrested a 29-year-old man from University Heights on animal cruelty charges relating to an attack on a cat by a pitbull. A now widely circulated video obtained by cat rescue group, Little Wanderers NYC, recently reported by Norwood News, showed a pitbull attacking a cat though the incident location was not confirmed. 

NY Lottery: Top Prize-Winning Tickets Sold in The Bronx

The New York Lottery announced on Saturday, May 18, a top-prize winning ticket was sold in The Bronx for the May 17 TAKE 5 evening drawing. The ticket was sold at Middletown Deli & Convenience store, located at 2959 Middletown Road in the Pelham Bay section of The Bronx, which sold one prize-winning ticket worth $38,822.

Debate over the lack of swimming pools in The Bronx has been raging in recent years, a situation further exacerbated during the pandemic. Frustration was evident during recent summers when, on hot days, long lines were witnessed outside Van Cortlandt Park’s renovated public swimming pool, while inside, only half the pool was open for safety reasons amid an ongoing lifeguard shortage.
