Torres Announces $18,171,279 in Federal Funds for Community Projects
Congressman Ritchie Torres (NY-15) announced $18,171,279 in federal funding for community projects across New York’s 15th Congressional District on Thursday, March 21. The funding, which his office said was secured through the Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations process, will support a range of initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, expanding access to healthcare, and enhancing educational opportunities for constituents.
Bronx Community College’s Gould Memorial Library Wins 2024 Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award
Gould Memorial Library, located on Bronx Community College campus, is among several New York City buildings to win a 2024 Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award. The Library’s representatives will formally receive the award, bestowed by The New York Landmarks Conservancy, during a ceremony on April 10 at The Plaza Hotel in Manhattan.
Jazz Fellowship Applications Open for Black Women or Black Non-Binary Jazz Musicians at BKCM
Applications are now open for the next round of the Jazz Leaders Fellowship at The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music (BKCM), a 126-year-old nonprofit dedicated to transforming lives through the educational and therapeutic powers of music. Applications must be submitted by May 15 and the winners will be announced in June.

Applications Remain Open for the City’s Summer Rising Program Among Others
Applications remain open to apply for the City’s Summer Rising program, as well as a number of other programs. Commissioner Manuel Castro of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) and Commissioner Keith S Howard of NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) are encouraging applications to various summer programs from the City’s youth such as the Summer Youth Employment Program, Summer Rising and Saturday Night Lights, along with adult literacy programs.
