Tenants and Elected Officials Gather To Protest Housing Conditions at Tracey Towers

Around 50 frustrated tenants joined local elected officials for a rally outside Bedford Park’s Tracey Towers on Saturday, June 15, to protest what they said are poor living conditions in the 871-unit housing complex. Residents say they have been grappling with a slew of problems like frequent water leaks, a significant rat infestation, and perpetually malfunctioning elevators for a number of years.

Petition Launched on Change.Org to Stop the Sale of Van Cortlandt Jewish Center

An online petition was launched by a group called “Van Cortlandt” on June 9 on www.change.org to stop the proposed sale to a developer, as reported, of the Van Cortlandt Jewish Center (VCJC), located in the Van Cortlandt Village section of The Bronx. Though petitioners were asked to sign the petition by June 21, it appears to still be available.

Building applications have been filed with NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) for interior conversions of a 3-story, residential building at 2564 Davidson Avenue in the University Heights section of The Bronx, as reported by YIMBY. Located between West 190th Street and West 192nd Street, the lot is near the Kingsbridge Road subway station, serviced by the 4 train.
