Update Olinville: NYPD Removes Snake found in Shopping Bag

There were no injuries reported on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 28, after police removed a snake from a shopping bag in the Olinville section of The Bronx. An NYPD spokesperson said that police received a call on Saturday at around 2.09 p.m. for a report of a Honduran milk snake in the vicinity of 212th Street and White Plains Road. After an “extremely hungry” and “dehydrated” pitbull was found abandoned in the Allerton section of The Bronx on Saturday, May 4, and was later placed in the care of Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), the pitbull in question was later euthanized by the center, much to the devastation of the local residents who helped rescue him.

NYC Emergency Management and the NYC health department are reminding New Yorkers to take precautions to beat the heat as the current heatwave continues into the weekend. The National Weather Service (NWS) has advised that a heat advisory is in effect until Sunday, June 23, at 8 p.m. Hot and humid conditions are in the forecast throughout the weekend, with heat index values in the upper 90s to 100 across the city.
