Bronx River Parkway: Man Killed in Hit and Run Incident

The NYPD reported that on Friday, July 24, 2020 at approximately 4:30 a.m., police responded to a 911 call about a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian who was struck in the southbound lanes of the Bronx River Parkway, in the vicinity of Exit 9, within the confines of the 47th precinct in the Bronx.

 

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 37-year-old man, unconscious and unresponsive, lying in the shoulder of the southbound lane with severe body trauma. EMS responded to the location and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

 

Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined the man attempted to cross the parkway, and was struck by an unidentified vehicle traveling in the southbound lane. The vehicle did not remain at the scene. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

 

The identification of the deceased is pending family notification. Police said on Sunday, July 26, that there were no further updates and the investigation remains ongoing.
