Host of MSNBC’s “Up w/ Chris Hayes”

Chris Hayes hosts his eponymous weekend morning show on Saturdays from 7-10 a.m. and Sundays from 8-10 a.m. ET on MSNBC. “Up w/ Chris Hayes,” which focuses on the latest in political news, premiered on September 17, 2011.
In addition to hosting his own show, Hayes is an MSNBC contributor and Editor-at-Large of The Nation. Prior to joining MSNBC as an anchor, Chris had previously served as a frequent substitute host for “The Rachel Maddow Show” and “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell.” Chris has been with MSNBC as a contributor since April 2010 and has been with The Nation since October 2007.
He is a former Fellow at Harvard University’s Edmond J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics. From 2008-2010, he was a Bernard Schwartz Fellow at the New America Foundation. From 2005 to 2006, Chris was a Schumann Center Writing Fellow at In These Times.
Since 2002, Hayes has written on a wide variety of political and social issues, from union organizing and economic democracy, to the intersection of politics and technology. His essays, articles and reviews have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Time, The Nation, The American Prospect, The New Republic, The Washington Monthly, The Guardian, and The Chicago Reader.
His first book, “Twilight of the Elites: America After Meritocracy,” which is about the crisis of authority in American life, was published in June 2012. Chris grew up in the Bronx, graduated from Brown University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and now lives in Brooklyn with his wife Kate.
Darlene Rodriguez
Co-Anchor of Today in New York
Darlene Rodriguez is co-anchor of the award winning “Today in New York” which airs weekday mornings from 4:30-7AM. Rodriguez also fills in as co-anchor for NBC 4 New York’s evening newscasts.
Since joining NBC 4 New York, Rodriguez has covered numerous breaking news stories throughout the city including filing multiple reports on the police shooting of Amadou Diallo, and coverage of the crash of Flight 587 en route to the Dominican Republic.
She was the first television reporter in New York on the scene in Vieques, Puerto Rico when news broke about the clashes between residents and the U.S. Navy, and then she returned four times to cover the resulting developments. In addition, Rodriquez traveled to Rome to cover Pope John Paul II’s meeting with U.S. Cardinals regarding the Catholic Church’s sex abuse scandal.
Rodriguez joined WNBC from WCBS NewsRadio 88 where she was a general assignment reporter for four years. Prior to that, she worked as a reporter for Bronxnet cable television for a year where she covered some of the most compelling stories about the borough’s politics, growth and renaissance.
As a result of her work, Rodriguez was honored by Hispanic magazine with a “Latina Excellence” Award and in 2000 and received a New York City Proclamation for her coverage of the Hispanic community. She is also the recipient of a 1998 Silurian Award for Best Spot News Coverage for her report on a Queens Subway Crash.
Rodriguez graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science.
