Thank you for the information. I am 71 Years old and my total income is 1, 200.00 per month from Social Security. When I retired in 2008 I realized that I would need to find another source of income to help me make ends meet. Well I got lucky and I found a part time job as a substance abuse counselor with Alianza Dominicana in Manhattan. But that’s not my main problem. As I said I’m 71 but I have Atrial Fribulation which can cause congestive heart failure or a stroke which is even worse. I live in a fourth floor walk up with no elevator and I have been searching for an apartment preferably in a senior citizen housing building or in a senior citizen housing complex. There are not many senior housing buildings in the Bronx and the existing ones have thousands of people on the waiting list. I recently applied at a new complex in the Bronx located on 198 Street between the Grand Concourse and Webster Ave. I applied almost as soon as the notice was posted. But lucky me NY City Housing gives out apartments through a lottery and I got passed by. I think I am about one thousand something on the list. I need a first floor apartment or a building with an elevator. I am a long time Bronx resident and I definitely qualify. I need to know where I can obtain information about new senior citizen housing sites because the existing ones the waiting list is so long that an older person will probably die before getting one.
