Bronx Notes: Holiday Toy/Coat Drives

Here are a few local Bronx drives for toys and coats that will benefit needy families if you’re looking to give back this holiday season.

Toy Drive for Children’s Hospital
The Care to Share Toy Drive will benefit patients at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. Donate a toy for a sick child in need until Dec. 16 at the following locations: LaSorsa, 3510 Webster Ave.: Beso Lounge, 320 E. 204th St.; Drug Rite Pharmacy, 3432 Jerome Ave.; Leroy Pharmacy, 314 E. 204th St.; LeMed Pharmacy, 159 E. Gun Hill Rd.; and Marketing & Advertising Solution (MAS), 3602 E. Tremont Ave. When donating gifts, please no violent toys, no Nerf toys, no Barbies or trucks. Toys that are needed include baby toys, toddler toys, gift cards, scarf/hat sets. Gifts should be unwrapped.

Toy/Coat Drive for Storm Victims
A holiday toy/coat drive is being held for the families impacted by Hurricane Sandy, which will run until Dec. 17. Donations can be dropped off at Senator Gustavo Rivera’s district office at 2432 Grand Concourse, suite 506 from noon to 6 p.m.

Bronx Zoo Toy Drive
The Bronx Zoo will be used as a collection site for new, unwrapped toys donated by members of the community, to be collected until Dec. 31, and which will be distributed by the Bronx Borough President’s office. The toys will benefit local military families, both veteran and active-duty. Those who make a qualifying donation will receive a free ticket to the Bronx Zoo. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts.
