In what has become an annual summer tradition, Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera is hosting a free outdoor screening of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” tonight at 8 p.m. on Mosholu Parkway, between Van Cortlandt and Bainbridge avenues. Organizers are encouraging people to come as their favorite Harry Potter character. There will be a prize given to best costume. Rain is expected, but not until later in the evening. If it does get rained out, the movie night will be rescheduled. For more information, call (718) 409-0109.

As someone who is “collateral damage” in Assemblywoman Rivera’s desire to represent both Morris Park in the east Bronx and Tracy Towers in the west Bronx, I think more could be done for us Mosholu Parkway vicinity folks than a once-a-year movie. Yet, since we are such a tiny sliver of her district, a mere geographic necessity, should we really expect more?
